do you hire associates or student interns?

We hire licensed clinicians and associates. We have several associates on our team and we provide in-house clinical supervision toward licensure. We do not have opportunities for student interns at this time.

what’s the pay structure?

At present (2024) our associates start at $55/hour and our licensed clinicians start at $60/hour. Every clinician receives an annual raise at performance reviews provided they maintain fidelity to the job description and company values. This is an employee/employer arrangement and not an independent contractor position. You’re paid hourly for your clinical work. You accrue administrative hours, one admin hour per five clinical hours, paid at $18/hour. You’re paid to attend meetings, trainings, and supervision at the admin rate.

PTO: We offer 40 hours (one week) of PTO per year. One hour of PTO is accrued per 30 hours worked (including clinical and admin hours). You may take unpaid time off whenever you like.

Health Insurance: We offer health insurance for clinicians seeing on average 22 clients/week. We provide a Regence Silver Plan, including dental and vision, and cover the employee at 100%.

401(k) and Matching: We offer a 401(k) with up to 4% matching for employees who average 22 clients/week.

Bonus: We offer an annual bonus based on client volumes, every January.

Other: We offer $200/year CE reimbursement, paid parking in the Pearl, group and individual supervision, weekly office hours, monthly clinical trainings. Your participation in meetings, office hours, and supervision is optional. We allot one pro bono client per therapist as well. We volunteer with SOLVE and donate to local and national organizations including the Q-Center, WRRAP, the MS Society and food banks.

how do you schedule office space?

Each clinician is assigned a location - either the Pearl or NE - and an office. One office space is shared between three clinicians and they work out their schedule amongst themselves.

how many clients am I expected to see?

We ask our clinicians to see 15 clients per week on average. Some see far more than that. Flexibility and work life balance are important to us so you won’t need to see more clients unless you’re seeking health insurance/401k.

who creates my caseload and schedule?

Your caseload and schedule are up to you. We do not hand you a caseload of 30+ people that you’re required to work with. Our clinic manager will match you with clients who request you or who appear to be a good fit based on your specialties. Every therapist does a free, unpaid consultation to determine fit and clinical appropriateness. If you decide you’d like to work with a client, we’ll move forward. If not, you can send them back to our clinic manager who’ll provide referrals. You create and manage your own schedule with your clients.

how quickly can I build my caseload?

Short answer: It’s up to you! We have a very full waitlist so depending on the insurance you can accept, you could schedule 20 consults your first week or 2. We encourage you to pace yourself, knowing that meeting and assessing new clients takes a lot of emotional and mental effort. Our licensed clinicians can be full in 2-3 months and our associates can be full within 1-2 if they schedule consistent consultations and clients each week.

how does credentialing work?

We credential all of our licensed clinicians under our group contract at the beginning of onboarding (if not sooner). OHP comes through within 30 days and the rest of the insurance plans take 30 days to six months to confirm INN status. Most INN status’ trickle in slowly in the first 2-3 months. Some clients prefer to wait til you’re INN with their plan and others will pay out of pocket in the interim. Our associates can bill OHP and all of our commercial insurance plans - except Moda - under their clinical supervisor at Awakened Heart PDX. Associates can begin billing those insurances as soon as they start.
